The American Engineering Society continues its annual tradition of supporting post-secondary high school education this year with scholarship opportunities for high school seniors.

In keeping with their belief that “grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped” the $500 scholarship is open to all students regardless of high school GPA. The scholarship is awarded “on the basis of character” rather than academic achievement.

The scholarship is open to students in all fields of study. Applicants are also not required to have taken any engineering courses in high school.

The application includes a requirement for a 500-1000 word essay that responds to the following prompt:

When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

Applications are due on Oct. 5, 2020, and can be submitted via email to [email protected]. If you are interested, visit this page for more information and be sure not to miss the deadline this fall!
