Senior Khareem Oliver is part of the Academy of Finance at Gables. Recently, he was personally invited to the prestigious Chase for Business Conference. This conference is an invite-only free event for small-business professionals and four selected students amongst the Miami-Dade Public County School District; Oliver was one of the four successful students. The Chase for Business Conference was led by keynote speakers such as Nick Cannon and Daymond John from well-known TV show SharkTank.

The start of Oliver’s profound passion sparked when he joined the business academy at Gables. Since the start of freshman year, the academy was the right fit for Oliver to explore his interest in business. However, Oliver’s main interest in entrepreneurship started when he took an entrepreneurship class sophomore year.

“It was an honor to be invited! It was not only a great experience but I even had the chance to network with many business professionals!” senior Khareem Oliver said.

The purpose for the conference was to provide a free event to Chase small business customers to bring insight and tips to topics such as cyber security, sales force, access to capital and payments, benefits to using social media, and the greatest emerging market. Oliver’s most memorable moment of the conference was meeting and taking advice from Cannon and John. Something that stood out to Oliver was how they kept repeating that “failure is not bad” because it showed him that having a business is more so a learning experience and not repeating the same mistakes.

Oliver’s company, Find or Found, is in the progress of updating exclusive new features. Currently, Oliver is in the process of partnering with a BluBeta who will help Oliver by creating the app and website for his company. Also, in the next few weeks, Oliver will be launching a Kickstarter Campaign. In the mere future, Oliver would like to introduce new products that will interest pet owners. He would also like to focus on the expansion of his company.

“When I’m not worrying about business, I’m usually hanging out with friends or searching for new music and fashion trends,” senior Khareem Oliver said.

Oliver is looking to major in business administration/marketing, along with some other minors. For Oliver, the Chase for Business Conference was an extraordinary experience that inspired him to become more successful and determined with his company. He is extremely grateful for the opportunity that was given to him and he cannot wait to see what the future has in store for him and his company.
