Since four weeks old, senior Zoé Somersall has been working in the modeling industry. With modeling been a trend in her nuclear family, she became fascinated by the stories of traveling the world modeling her parents would tell her about and decided to pursue it herself.
Since her first modeling job as an infant, Somersall has been modeling on and off throughout her adolescence. For the past three years, she has been modeling part-time under model and talent management agency, Wilhelmina. The agency is one of the oldest and largest modeling agencies in the business and is headquartered in New York City, with offices in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami and London. Somersall has done various photo shoots used by different companies as advertisements, including major corporations such as Nordstrom, Free People and Everly.
The modeling gigs vary each time. Somersall has had modeling shoots that have ranged from two to 14 hours. While some jobs require her to have a makeup artist on hand, other shoots include more natural looks. The use of make-up depends on what the photographer, artist or advertisement is looking for in the photo.

“Every company, every shoot, every photographer is different,” Somersall said.
Modeling has given her the opportunity to travel to travel across the United States, Germany and Switzerland. Being born in Germany, Somersall has become a world traveler. She lived in South Africa for two years, spent six weeks in Los Angeles and lived in North Carolina.
Somersall hopes to go to college and still continue her modeling career. Somersall says she is constantly surprised by the types of people she meets and how different they all are, even though the share the same goal of producing quality photos. Throughout her modeling career, Somersall has met artists from around the world who come together on a set to showcase their passion of modeling. She has met one of her closest friends who lives across the country in Los Angeles, from traveling for modeling. Modeling has even introduced her to a couple run-ins with celebrities, like actor, Leonardo DeCaprio and singer, Chris Brown.
“Everyone wants to make great art and that’s what makes it so fun,” Somersall said.
