Gables Live: A Peek Into the 2024-2025 School Year

The Daily and Monthly Show

Ever since production week, from July 29 to Aug. 2, the Gables Live team alongside Ms. Abrahantes have been putting work into their daily and monthly shows. Whether they arrived to school hours before other students or stayed long after their peers had left, the Gables Live team has been putting in hours of work. This has all been in efforts to ensure the daily show, which aims to inform Cavaliers of daily events, reminders and updates every morning, was not just done, but done well. Although their first monthly show has not yet been released, the Gables Live staff have been planning how they will execute their largest feat yet.
Photography and Podcasts

Although Ms. Abrahantes decided to move the publication away from photography, Gables Live's photographers will continue to cover larger school events. This can range from sports events to large school developments. Apart from photography, Gables Live will also be branching into podcasts. Podcasts were a part of CavsTV and are currently under CavsConnect Media, but Gables Live looks to dive deep into the world of podcasting, holding discussions with local leaders and communities with moving stories.
Competitions

Throughout the 2024-2025 school year, Gables Live, much like all of Gables' publication, will compete in state and national competitions. At the state level, Cavaliers will be competing in the Florida Scholastic Press Association's Spring Convention. During this event, the crew will produce news packages in a few hours and have the chance at bringing awards back to Gables. As for the national level, the publication will be competing at the Student Television Network National Convention. This is the first time in Gables' broadcast history that Cavaliers will have the opportunity to compete at a stage of STN's stature.
Fundraising

Due to the overwhelming amount of equipment that goes into the average broadcast program, Gables Live will be doing their fair share of fundraising through the year. Much like other Gables publications and clubs, Gables Live plans on selling sweet treats in school and hosting a carwash to support their team. Apart from this, the publication is holding a large scale fundraiser on InstaRaise. The goal of the event is to raise $30,000, all of which will be used to pay equipment expenses and competitions costs. Class Bonding

Although the team will be working hard on ensuring the success of Gables Live this year, they will not forget to also enjoy themselves while at it. Conventions already give students the chance to connect on a deeper level, but the publication will also be hosting the occasional holiday celebration and milestone party. These events will not only serve as a break from the demanding work but also foster a stronger sense of community, allowing team members to bond and create lasting memories outside of their roles in Gables Live.
