The Cavalier Baseball Team’s season recently ended with a crushing defeat in the regional semi-finals. Since then, the team has not missed a beat and “summer ball” has begun. Although they play 25 games, coach Wisser has put an emphasis on getting better instead of just winning.
“Of course we want to win every summer game but it’s about getting better and getting as many reps as possible,” said head coach Wisser.
Every player on the team realizes that seven seniors have left and that they all played important roles in being a winning team. Now that the team is primarily sophomores and juniors, they do recognize that they’re not only young but now the underdogs.
Coco Montes, now a sophomore starting at shortstop, had something to say about his team.
“When I look around I don’t just see young faces but I also see a team that wants to prove every hater out there wrong and finally bring a state championship home.”
Hialeah left a horrible taste in the Cavs mouths and they seem to be working harder every day this summer in order to get their revenge this coming year. Not only do they have games every Tuesday and Thursday of summer but they also have weight training, hitting, and fielding practice throughout the entirety of the summer. With this work ethic there really isn’t any way that they can lose next season.
“I’m really looking forward to leading this team as a senior and making every player around me better. I know next season we will go farther in the playoffs than any recent year.”said Alex Pinero, the third basemen, who also had the honor of getting “All-Dade” this year. Baseball never seems to end for the Cavaliers and the players seem to never want it to end.
