September 12 marks the night that students bring their parents back to school. The field was full of cars with no spaces to spare, and the halls were over crowded with students and Gablettes guiding parents to the classrooms.
“I love having the opportunity, along with the other Gablettes, to walk around the school and help the parents find the different classrooms at Open House. I have been a part of it for the past 4 years, and I have had a great experience year after year. The parents are always really easy to work with and are always open to a little bit of help,” said senior Elizabeth Harley.
At approximately 6pm, parents were seated in the very chairs that students spend their first period in. They gave teachers their full attention as they spoke about the course they teach and what it has to offer their children.
Mr. Costa, along with the other assistant principals, stood by the attendance office to greet parents while they traveled from period to period. Parents were able to get a feel of the environment their children spend their time in and get a glimpse of how rigorous the school year will be.
“By pushing my mom to come to open house I feel like she understands how teachers act and exactly what their expectations are from us in each and every one of my classes. Not only was my mom able to walk in my shoes for a couple hours, but she was able to communicate with my teachers. I look forward to it every year,” said junior Maria Barrios.
