Brussels and Pakistan Brutally Attacked
America’s condolences extend to Pakistan and Brussels who were tragically bombed on the week of March 22. To the French police it was no coincidence that a few days earlier the Paris terrorist attack suspect was captured just days prior to the bombing. ISIS claimed claim responsibility for the arranged attacks, but there is still no solid evidence that the suspects to the attacks.
Three men in Brussels charged with terrorist attacks
As seen in a blurry surveillance footage, a man wearing light-colored clothing shoved a baggage cart in the airport. It is essential evidence the police need as they search for the suspects responsible for the bombing at a Brussels airport and at a busy subway station that killed at least 30 people and left 230 civilians wounded.
“It is unbelievable how three men could possibly harm so many people and not realize the malice behind it. American hearts are with them and we are praying that Belgium safely recuperates from this ,” freshman Emily Espinoza said.
The police have released a photo in which two of the men are believed to be suicide bombers and one is believed to have planted the bomb in the airport. Fortunately, as the photo was released to the public, the taxi driver who drove the suspects to the airport contacted the authorities. He gave them the address from where he picked the suspects up, according to to U.S. officials who briefed on the investigation. With the new evidence, police where available to raid a residence in the northeast Brussels neighborhood where investigators found a nail bomb and chemical products. Officers left the residence with bags carrying evidence and are hoping to aid the people of Brussels by finding everyone who is tied to the crime.
In Pakistan, Taliban’s Easter bombing targets, kills scores of Christians
On Easter Sunday, Mar.27, as Christian families gathered in celebration with their Muslim neighbors a sudden sound of tragedy hit Pakistan leaving 69 people dead. Unfortunately, the majority of those killed were woman and children. A difficult time is facing Pakistan’s Christians seeing that they only makeup 2% of the population and the Muslim core wants to see an interpretation of Islamic law implemented into Pakistan’s legal system. Many witness’ were left in awe by the scarring effects of the bombing. One witness, Danish, was at the amusement park with his sisters when the bomb killed one of his sisters and left the other injured.
“It was so crowded that there was even no way of entering it. We went to a canteen to have something to eat, when there was suddenly a big blast. Everyone panicked, running to all directions. Many of them were blocked at the gate of the park. Dead bodies can be found everywhere,” the witness said.
According to a CNN article, Ehsanullah Ehsan, a spokesman for the splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban known as Jamat-ul-Ahrar vowed such attacks would continue. Parks in the city remained closed into Monday, for security reasons, according the deputy commissioner of police.
“My heart is broken to hear so many children and civilians were hurt on such a sacred day. Pakistan seems to definitely be considering changing their law and I hope that they can get up from this soon,” sophomore Alex Rodriguez said.
