Gables is now peanut aware! In the past, Gables has been a peanut free campus. This meant no peanuts or any food containing peanuts were not allowed on campus. Gables was peanut free for four years. The administration had to go through a rigorous process through the district based on the federal 504 mandate.

“This is something that affects all students and we need to be aware. As I always say,  our rights end with someone else beginning. One should not only be cautious about peanut allergies, but every allergy,” principal Adolfo Costa said.

Some students with minor peanut allergies are now taking special precautions as students are bringing peanuts in their lunches.

All in all, Gables being peanut aware should not be taken lightly. Each student should be aware of those around them not only being careful with peanut in their lunches but every allergy. Keep those around you in mind when bringing peanuts.
