In light of the recent tragic events that have deeply impacted our local community, Gables teachers have decided to work with the American Red Cross in aiding the thousands of families in the Florida Keys. United with volunteers from all over the state, the American hopes to bring nonperishable items to those affected and begin to clean up the Keys. According to the Monroe County Medical Examiner, Hurricane Irma’s death toll in the Florida Keys has risen to 14

According to the Monroe County Medical Examiner, Hurricane Irma’s death toll in the Florida Keys has risen to 14. Irma has left many fanned out businesses, schools and homes. To further alleviate the magnitude of the devastation, the American Red Cross has volunteers that are not only giving up their vacations to assist but are working diligently to aid the Florida Keys in every possible way. Additionally, the work of the American Red Cross is widespread amongst all the territories being that were faced with damage from hurricanes. The humanitarian organization is seeking monetary relations, volunteers and provides other opportunities to help those in need! Read all about what YOU can do here.
