The Gablettes stunned a packed auditorium of fans at this year’s Fall Frolics.

With all the work the Gablettes put in year-round, Fall Frolics provides an opportunity to show off their talent to the Coral Gables Senior High student body. Following much anticipation for the performance, the show was held on Nov. 2 in the Gables auditorium.

Prior to the start of the show, a long line of supporters crowded outside the auditorium with fans buying tickets and waiting to get in. As soon as doors opened, excited enthusiasts flooded in and the auditorium was soon packed. Kicking off at 7 p.m., the crowd of families, students, faculty and alumni looked on in admiration as the entire Gablette team shined on stage with a contemporary performance entitled “Burning Love” as their first performance.

The Mini Gablettes took the stage next with a dance set to “Walking On Sunshine” that had many in the audience beaming at their youthful enthusiasm. The senior Gablettes made a return to the stage next with an emotional performance to the song “Till I Reach You”, which ended in tears for the performers and many in the audience alike.

The mood shited with an upbeat performance by the junior Gablettes to Rihanna’s hit song “Pon de Replay”. The high energy continued as Ms. Diaz’s Level 3 dance class took to the stage with a hyped-up hip-hop performance to a remix of various popular songs. The Gablettes then returned with consecutive performances to “Piano Man” and “Rush”. A guest performance from dancers from Southwest Middle School Charter for the Arts to the song “Feelings on the Radio” followed. Act One closed with a final performance by the Gablettes called “Fix You”.

Following intermission, Act Two opened on a high note with a hip-hop performance by the entire Gablette crew to a remix including hits by popular artists like Bad Bunny. Another middle school dance team made an appearance as the Somerset Academy Bay Junior Mermaids made their way to the stage to perform a dance to “Fireball”.  Ms. Diaz’s Level 2 dance class followed with a spirited hip-hop routine that had the audience clapping and singing along.

“We started preparing around two weeks before the show, we had lots of routines to learn and it was a lot of practice, practice, practice. A lot of people said the elective class’s performance this year was the best so far. My family and a few friends were there watching me, and I’m always super happy to have their support,” junior Claudia De La Cruz said.

The Gablettes finally showed off their renowned kick routines, one by the upperclassman dancers and the second by the underclassmen. After these performances, a student from Somerset Academy took the stage to perform a solo ballet choreography from “Coppelia”.

Following this graceful performance, this year’s sweethearts made their debut in a duo dance with the senior Gablettes complete with coordinating outfits. The excitement created over the reveal continued as the Level 2 dance class returned with another upbeat hip-hop performance to a mix of trending songs.

“I feel like fall frolics was most memorable this year compared to other years at least for me. I was in the pit directly in front of the stage taking pictures and during the whole ceremony where the girls got their jackets and flowers with their sweethearts, I was there close up watching as my best friend received a symbol of her hard work and dedication. Fall frolics 2022 was definitely an experience that has shaped my senior year and will always be in my heart,” senior Ariana Alvarez said.

Before the show could come to a close, the junior officers took the microphone to welcome the senior Gablettes to the stage and honor them for their achievements as they prepare to move on to new horizons. As they walked onto the stage, their sweethearts presented them with their senior jackets and flowers.

“Being on stage has always been something that I love to do so it was enjoyable, and it meant a lot because this is my last Fall Frolics along with the other seniors so it was kind of bittersweet to be on stage with them for the last time,” senior Gabriela Puns said.

For the final performance of the night, the entire Gablette team, in their classic checkers, performed one final kick routine to “Coming Home”. All the performers then reunited on the stage for a final bow together. If you missed out on this memorable night of dancing, you can still support the team at the Gablette Revue, their final performance of the school year.
