The Class of 2027 Enjoys their Christmas Treat Day

Sophomores sign in at the 6000 courtyard, verifying their eligibility to join the holiday treat day celebration filled with cookies and cheer.

On Dec. 10, sophomores indulged in a festive treat day featuring delicious cookies and holiday cheer. The treat day was organized by the Class of 2027 student board and their sponsor, Ms. DePaola, who worked together to showcase the essence of teamwork and festivity. From coordinating the layout, to making sure every sophomore felt valued, the group contributed to the sweet experience, just in time for the most wonderful time of the year.

“The whole treat day was decorated with Christmas in mind. The people who served the cookies were extremely polite, and I think that the cookies were a pretty good choice for a treat day, they tasted really good. It was also hosted at a really good time, perfect way to spread some holiday cheer,” sophomore Rachel Velez said.

Ms. DePaola facilitated a lot of the funding for the event and helped to provide the treats. The board knew what cookies they wanted from a bake sale that was hosted a few months back. The most popular and cost effective were M&M’s cookies and chocolate chip cookies.

Before the lunches began, the 6000 courtyard was transformed into a festive holiday scene by the board members. Speakers played Christmas music, decorations added a touch of seasonal charm and board members wore Christmas accessories to spread the holiday spirit.

At the heart of the event was the cookie table, where students could choose from a variety of delicious flavors: Double Chunk Chocolate, Chocolate Chip and White Chocolate Macadamia. To top it off, every student received an M&M cookie as a sweet treat, ensuring no one left without a little holiday joy.

“We were able to do it during December, which was a lovely way to see the Christmas spirit from our cavaliers while still being able to supply them with their treat day. It was overall a huge success and super fun,” sophomore Carolina Sesin said.

At the start of both lunches, sophomores eagerly made their way to the 6000 courtyard, forming orderly lines in anticipation for their sweet treats. To ensure a smooth distribution process, students were checked in to verify their eligibility. To receive their cookies, sophomores needed to meet specific requirements: being in uniform, presenting their school IDs and having no recent suspensions. These guidelines help to maintain student accountability while also promoting good behavior.

Volunteering sophomores created a lively and cheerful atmosphere in the courtyard, playing Christmas music on their speakers and serving treats with festive accessories. The success of this treat day not only provided a glimpse of holiday joy, but also gave the almost 500 sophomores who attended, a preview of what they can look forward to as juniors.

“To put it simply, it was a total success. Stomachs were filled with yummy treats, and we spread the holiday joy we wanted to… but only to those 10th graders that were at good standing,” Ms. DePaola said.

The festive treat day did not just bring delicious cookies to the Class of 2027, but also reinforced the importance of class unity and school spirit. Events like these allow students to step away from their busy academic schedules and foster connections with their peers in a relaxed environment. The Class of 2027 student board hopes that initiatives like this one will continue to strengthen bonds among classmates and leave lasting memories as they move through their high school journey together. As they transition into upperclassmen, current sophomores can look forward to additional treat days scattered throughout the year, along with tailored events and activities that accompany them.
