It has been many years since the original “Jungle Book” was released in 1967. In the case of many movies, a remake is not needed; regarding the “The Jungle Book,” however, we are glad a remake has come, and especially such a great one!
Although it has been 39 years, many thought a good remake that stayed true to the source material of the original would be hard to come by. However, the remake is equal to, if not better than, the original. While the old one relied on classic drawn animations, the new film is live-action with beautiful computer-generated animals providing a more contemporary and realistic look to the movie.
The movie itself stayed fairly close to the book and the 1967 version, although it has been improved in its sense of plot in order to encapsulate a more aware audience. The voice acting matched the computer-generated imagery (CGI) animals perfectly providing comedy when needed and seriousness from time to time.
