Have you been in a showhole recently? Do you have Netflix? If you answered yes to at least one of these questions, you should watch Stranger Things. This Netflix original is about a small town in rural Indiana near a power plant where “strange things” happen – like the disappearance of a local boy, Will Byers.

Stranger Things is a mix of a horror and thriller genre and centers about what happens when a girl with powerful telepathic and telekinetic powers named Eleven accidentally opens a portal to another dimension, later named the “Upside Down.” In the “Upside Down” a monster that is attracted to blood terrorizes the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana.

Pulling in a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 95% on its viewer score, Stranger Things can officially be called “Critically Acclaimed.” This Netflix show also brings in a whopping 9.1 on IMDb, something rarely achieved by TV shows.

“I would definitely recommend [Stranger Things] because it’s kind of like a sci-fi thing but the relationship between her (Eleven’s) father and the government is really interesting also,” freshman Valentina Mellini said.

This sci-fi horror show is an expertly blended mixture of in-your-face horror and psychological thriller and will leave your eyes watering for the eagerly awaited season 2.
