May 16, 2017
These days many buying a new computer is tough with choices like: the Mac, or the more affordable option: PC. However, are Macs really even preferable? With PC’s often times superior hardware and countless customization options they are by far the better choice when looking for a new computer or laptop.
To begin, PCs are less expensive and usually more durable than the average Mac computer-which goes for an excessive price just for the precious Apple logo. Another important factor to go over when deciding on what laptop to buy, is how often and for what reasons you will be using it for. Many times a PC will hold up better for people looking to run demanding software and games on their laptops rather than Macs, which fall flat in that department. Some PC computers may be too large or heavy for people who travel with their laptops everyday, however, this can be easily overlooked by PCs higher quality stats.
While the Mac comes in only one type per model, all of which are outrageously expensive, The PCs of today can be found in every price range: some being only two hundred dollars at the low-end, while high-end gaming computers can be found at nearly two thousand dollars or more. Basically, there is a PC for everyone; be it a child’s first computer, or a number crunching beast for the hardcore gamer.
“I play a lot of video games on my computer, and there is no question that Macs can’t run the games as well as my PC, which isn’t even that high-end,” sophomore Justin Vazquez said.
For some users, the most important quality of their computer might just be its versatility and aesthetic design. The Mac is generally the more preferred type of computer for this consumer, since it holds true with its simplistic good looks and ease of use. Since most people already have an iPhone or other Apple products, having a Mac is a smart choice since users have nice the ability to text from their laptops or send pictures/videos from other Apple devices to your computer.
Ultimately when looking for a new computer it is always important to know what and how often you will be using that device for since it is a very big deciding factor; especially when deciding between a Mac and a PC. In general, a PC is the much safer and practical choice since it is the perfect blend of affordability, customization, and power which will make any new user happy.
