After a long day of school, students often come home starving. The first thing they grab is a bag of chips because well, it’s easy. But it’s honestly worth the 3 extra minutes to prepare a refreshing smoothie. Not only will it re-energize them to start homework, but it’s a healthy snack that is so flavorful and sweet it tastes like dessert. C’mon who doesn’t love to eat dessert before dinner! This is especially helpful for those who are horrible at cooking because there is no experience required.  All that’s needed is to throw some ice, fruit, and milk or yogurt in a blender and voila a a delectable masterpiece.

Here are some delicious smoothie recipes for anyone’s taste buds:

  • Very Berry:

1 c frozen unsweetened raspberries
¾ c chilled unsweetened almond or rice milk
¼ c frozen pitted unsweetened cherries or raspberries
1½ Tbsp honey
2 tsp finely grated fresh ginger
2 tsp fresh lemon juice

  • Just Peachy

1 c whole milk
2 Tbsp vanilla yogurt
½ c frozen peaches
½ c strawberries
⅛ tsp powdered ginger
3 ice cubes

  • Mango Madness

1 can (8 oz) juice-packed pineapple chunks
1 c frozen vanilla yogurt
1 lg ripe mango, peeled and chopped
1 ripe banana, sliced
Crushed ice

One of the best things about making smoothies is that there are unlimited flavors. Anyone can create a new recipe, just mix fruits and you never know what mouthwatering smoothie will be discovered. Have fun!
