Exercises At Your Desk
Dec 3, 2014
Students spend all day long sitting in a desk. Sitting for such a long period of time is damaging to the spine and detrimental to one’s posture. Not only this, but it is difficult to exercise these parts of your body, considering students have minimal spare time. Here are some exercises that you can partake in while sitting at your desk.
Core:
- Sit on up straight on your chair.
- Extending your legs all the way, lift them off the ground a few inches (try to go 6 inches off the ground).
- Hold for as long as you can.
- Repeat 3 times, doing 20 second reps.
Legs:
- Place the ball of your feet on the floor.
- Lift your heels off the ground and hold for a few seconds.
- Bring your feet back down and repeat constantly, making sure your heels don’t touch the ground.
Arms:
- Place your arms on the armrests of your chair.
- Keeping a correct posture, lift your body off the chair and hold for as long as you can.
- Slowly bring your body back down. (Remember to breathe while doing this exercise.)
Note: Always make sure to get up and walk around every once in a while to increase your blood flow. Also, stretch every time you finish an exercise.
In addition, these little workouts will improve your concentration and productivity. Make sure to take advantage of stationary time to do these simple exercises that will help you maintain your fitness and focus.
