As testing soon approaches, quiet and relaxing places are a must to study effectively. Although Starbucks and Barnes and Noble are the usual places to go around this time of the year, they can get a little crowded. Places like Books and Books, Panera Bread, Matheson Hammocks or the University of Miami are locations with undisturbed tranquility!

With a spacious outdoor setting and view of the city of Coral Gables, Books and Books is the perfect place to study if you are looking for a local shop to have a cup of coffee while deciphering your school notes.  The outdoor setting is one of the many factors that make the local bookstore a relaxing place to study. The usual warm Miami weather and an iced coffee are great companions to a textbook. If you are looking to isolate yourself where you most likely won’t be distracted in your computer, then Books ad Books is the right place since it has no Wi-Fi access. At Books and Books you have a high chance of not being bothered by the usual ads and text messages in your computer or device that relies on Wi-Fi access. With a spectacular view and scrumptious snacks, Books and Books is the local place to be during exam season!

“Although it is not often recognized for its great service, Books and Books has amazing food and the perfect quiet ambiance anyone is looking for when studying,” freshman Monica Gil said.

Within a short distance from campus, Panera Bread is the ideal place to be for a mix of great food and study setting. Students can easily enjoy anything from their extensive menu– from muffins to a delectable chili bowl, Panera has it all. Your beautifully annotated book can be accompanied with a tasty salad or macaroni and cheese. Remember, it’s harder to study on an empty stomach, so eat away! In addition to the food, Panera has free WI-FI and has various outlets throughout the restaurant for you to charge your phone or computer and they even have comfy seats to go with it! Enjoying a nice and inexpensive meal is the way to go before sticking your head in a book.

Featuring a marina and calming beach breeze, Matheson Hammocks park located in the south of Coral Gables has the outdoor most students would like to have during testing season.  If you are looking to somehow disconnect from the world and just admire natures’ astonishing beauty while studying, then Matheson Hammocks is for you. Plus, you never know, you might even be inspired to do some yoga or maybe walk around while you are there, and who doesn’t love a great exercise to relax? There is also plenty of space to just sit down on a blanket and calmly read. Surrounded by mother nature and minimal distractions, Matheson Hammocks is a spacious and not-so common place to study.

With plentiful study rooms for group study sessions and various Starbucks on campus, the University for Miami is the perfect school setting to study at. UM even has a food court for you to grab a bite before hitting the books with your friends in a spacious study room in Richter Library or in the rocking chairs located all around campus. The sense of tranquility is felt all around campus. Although it is common for various students to study there, the size of the school makes up for it. In addition, if you find yourself needing a book, chances are either of the two libraries at UM might have it! The University of Miami has just about everything you will possibly need while studying.

“The University of Miami has great study rooms and resources to help you study all throughout their campus that will make you feel right at home,” senior Claudia Figueroa said.

All of the above locations definitely have a soothing ambiance that will motivate you to study! Whether it be outdoors or alongside stacks of books, a silent place to study is crucial. A few not-always visited locations are useful if you are avoiding social distractions and would like to be with your books.  Books and Books and Matheson Hammocks will definitely give you that privacy you are looking for while being outdoors enjoying the Miami breeze. And if you are looking for a place with perhaps more people and food availability, then UM and Panera Bread are just the places for you!
