The new great prophecy is coming to passing in Rick Riordan’s newest addition, “The Blood of Olympus,” to the Heroes of Olympus series. If you read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, you know that the Greek gods sometimes have children, called demigods, which are often attacked by the monsters of Greek mythology. After the terrible battle against the Titans, which are the gods’ worst enemies, the demigods unsuccessfully hoped for a break. Gaea, the terrible earth goddess, arose, and once awakened, no God, Demigod or supernatural being can stop her.

The Greek demigods have learned that there are Roman demigods as well, and that the only way to succeed in lulling Gaea back to sleep is to unite forces. All she needs is the blood of two demigods to rise and destroy the world. Unfortunately, due to a misunderstanding, the Roman demigods are now attacking the Greek demigods.

When we left off in the Heroes of Olympus series, Annabeth and Percy had returned from the Tartarus abyss. The Argo II, Leo, Piper, Jason, Frank, Hazel, Annabeth and Percy crew decided to sail east to defeat Gaea’s giant sons, who are trying to wake her. Meanwhile, Reyna, Nico di Angelou and Coache Hedge take the statue of Athena, the Athena Parthenon, west to heal the rift between the Roman and Greek demigods. However, defeating the giants will be difficult, as a god and a demigod are the only combination that can kill a giant. With the gods experiencing severe pain from having to deal with both their Greek and Roman halves, most of them are barely able to help the demigods for long. For the destruction of the world, as well as the Roman demigod invasion of the Greek demigods, make sure to mark you calendars for Aug. 1.

Riordan definitely has fans pumped about the Heroes of Olympus finale. After masterfully describing the adventures of demigods as they fought every Greek monster possible for nine books, fans can’t wait to get there hands on “The Blood of Olympus.” The book has all of the usual battles against all kinds of monsters, as well as the final showdown between the giants and the crew of Argo II. There will also be romance and heartbreak as some demigods chase, and sometimes fail to catch, their crushes, while others enjoy the companionship of their girlfriend or boyfriend.

The Blood of Olympus is one of the most awaited books and has already put millions of copies on shelves in stores all across the world. As one of the most popular books of the year, in one of the most popular series, you won’t be able to take your eyes off this book.
