On Nov. 20, 2014, the Cavaliers fought a tough battle against the Columbus Explorers. Our beloved football team’s last game of the season ended with a score of 22-0.

“We did good but we had a few simple mistakes that have cost us in the long run – we just had to keep on trying to stay positive (throughout the game) so we just had a lot to work on. Fourteen-thirteen, that’s what made us want to play hard. I’ve been playing for a long time, and once you give them the chance to beat you, you don’t want that to happen again,” Shakur Cooper (#9) said.

In the first quarter, the Explorers ran a touchdown, setting the score to 7-0, where it would stay until the third quarter. After halftime, the Explorers ran yet another touchdown into the end-zone, and converted a broken play into a 2 point conversion bringing the score to 15-0. In the last 16 seconds of the third quarter, Columbus snatched a touchdown at the last second, bringing the score to 22-0, which stayed for the rest of the game.

“Today’s game, we showed some good things, but of course, the score was what is, and we played this game to win and not to lose. To be optimistic right now, no one had any life changing injuries, we got bruised up and nicked up pretty good; we got to see what a good team Columbus looks like. We were able to see for the second year in a row who the State Championship team is. It’s a great learning lesson for our guys, and hopefully they take heart to it. [To the Cavalier Nation] First and foremost, I want to say thank you for the support, for everything that’s been going on, and when I got here three years ago, I didn’t think things would start this fast. People got so excited about the product we were giving and I told them my first year, If we were losing the game and I could hear the crowd going crazy still, then I know that we will rise. You know, we’ve built something special, and I can’t repeat what we were saying, but that Cavalier pride still runs through and through, and that’s a win for us,” head coach Pollard said.

Though our season has come to an end, do not forget to always be a part of the Cavalier Nation – we will see you next season!
