Our rating: A+

With over 200 million users, Snapchat has become the go-to app for teens and adults alike. From breaking news to event coverages snapchat has a story for it all. With this relatively new feature, users across the world are able to connect with one another by posting snaps of themselves at the event to show the world what’s really out there.

One of the more popular Live Story events was back in 2015 when snapchat introduced “This is Our Story” which featured select cities for a day. It started popping up in popular places such as New York, Los Angeles, and Miami; it then branched out all over the world reaching London to Dubai and every corner of the world.

“Ever since I started using Snapchat I’ve been able to see cool stories from countries like Japan and Spain. They show these really cool sceneries and I think you can learn more about the city through snapchat stories then through a simple google search,” sophomore Isabella d’Ottone

As the app started garnering more and more downloads, Snapchat started introducing the “Discover” section of their app. This is where users can go onto different channels like Buzzfeed, ESPN, and Food Network, and discover things such as recipes, DIY projects, and lifestyle tips and tricks.

Pop Culture Channels

Probably the most popular channels on the discover page are People’s Magazine, Buzzfeed, and MTV. These channels can help you keep up with the latest celebrity buzz or just keep you entertained for hours on end. Buzzfeed uploads numerous DIY projects everyday. They also make sure to include lifestyle tips, funny articles, and more.

Foodie Channels

If you’re ever looking for a new recipe to try or want to take up cooking as a new hobby, try looking at the Food Network channel on the discover page. From seasonal holiday favorites to tips to help maintain a healthy diet, the Food Network covers it all. But they aren’t the only ones that can bring a new plate to your dinner table. Tastemade, another food channel,  brings original recipes to their audience including entrees and desserts, while still promoting healthy eating.

Sporty Channels

If food or celebrity news don’t interest you, fear not because Snapchat also offers channels for the sporty viewers! Many of the professional football gams are broadcasted through Live stories with the scores being constantly updated. Through these stories, highlights, behind the scene videos, and extra content can be seen. Usually in channels like ESPN, they give in depth reviews of certain plays and players. So if you’re looking for a short review in the sports section, look no further! Just swipe right and click on the channel!

Whether it’s to pass the time or to chat up a friend, many are calling Snapchat the new Facebook with how easily its able to connect people from all ranks of the world to how quickly it can bring news updates from around the world from the people experiencing it first hand.
